John Jay is able to pass along his knowledge of the most up-to-date methods of hairdressing, due to his travels to all parts of the world as a teacher and student. We don’t teach you only one hair color, hairdo or haircut. We teach you the John Jay method, so that you will always be prepared for success and changes that will, no doubt, occur.

There are many opportunities today for hairstylists, hair colorists, nail artists, aestheticians and teachers. The beauty industry also offers opportunities as salon owners, school instructors, platform educators, manufacturer’s representatives and many other interesting professions.

Enrollment requirements: Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a high school diploma (from a state recognized school) or GED. Foreign diplomas must be translated and certified by the Association of Credentials Evaluator ( or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (

If a student graduates, even one day past the specified time, they are considered, by the department of education, to have not completed in normal time. Our actual completion rates are very high, but may not be within the specified time.
